Drawing doesn't exactly work for me anymore, seeing as I have not the time nor the patience, and I've quite lost my touch after a very dissatisfying 2-year hiatus.
Instead, I've taken to making ghosts with multiple exposures. Deleting people's foreheads, putting thin slices of their images over preexisting snapshots. It's fun. It's exciting. It's completely unpredictable, really.
Film has this kind of appeal to me that noting digital ever will, or even drawing or painting, for that matter. I get some sort of rush from the excitement of wondering around Target for an hour, not buying anything and hardly even looking, just waiting for the final reveal of photographic nonsense that I'm hoping to find. I wish that I had my own darkroom, though, and that I had the stuffs to develop my own color pictures. I don't like knowing that someone else is going through the intimate details with my little roll of film and making and trimming the prints for me. I miss that about high-school photog.
I'm yearning for a darkroom. Instead I'm getting a science lab!
What's cool though is that I'll be working with tuberculosis for two-thirds of next semester, and the last portion (and maybe the rest of my life) will be with neuroscience and rats and rat brains and DNA and histone proteins and a bunch of funny instruments and tests that go along with all that.
Since the rest of my family is already sleeping, I'm headed up to my room to see what sort of art supplies I can find. Who knows, maybe I'll draw or something!
Maybe.
Oh, and I'm finally getting my foot x-rayed tomorrow. And by finally, I mean it's been broken since Labor Day. The beginning of September.
Also, one last thing - has anyone else noticed that the McDonald's commercial for the McNuggets that are now 100% all white-meat chicken (what were they before?) seems strangely and disturbingly like R. Kelly's "Trapped in the Closet" nonsense?
I feel guilty to say this, but some McDonald's sounds great right about now.
